Berkeley Mt. Zion and Family,

I trust that you and your loved ones are safe and well.  I wanted to address the recent events taking place in our country.  I am sure that you have witnessed the unrest and protests in every major city across our country, in response to the death of George Floyd.  The late great Rosa Parks reminds us that, “It is better to protest than to accept injustice.”  We have a right to assemble and a mandate to protest injustice.  It is unsettling to see that in every city across our nation that peaceful protests have turned into an opportunity for violence and destruction, without any regard for the memory of George Floyd or the fight for injustice in this country.

Like many of you I am tired, angry, frustrated, and at times even speechless,  asking the question WHAT CAN WE DO NOW?  I wanted to give you all some action items in the midst of what is going on so that we can take action!

Pray – As believers we know that we do not wrestle with flesh and blood but against principalities, against powers, rulers of darkness, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Yes pray, but remember to put action to your prayers.

Peaceful Protest – We have the right to assemble and many of you will publicly protest, but please if you publicly protest make sure it is peaceful, nonviolent, noncriminal and within the city guidelines.
