October 2020

To the Berkeley Mt. Zion Family,

GOD IS STILL ON THE THRONE!  I trust you and your family are yet holding on to God’s unchanging hand.  As the headlines, forecasts and culture continue to shift with uncertainty; as we continue to wrestle with uncertainty, sometimes on a daily basis, I have found myself in the position of King Jehoshaphat.  When facing a crisis that would impact his world, this man voiced the sentiments that I have expressed time and time again: “…Lord, we don’t know what to do, but our eyes are on You.” (2 Chronicles 20:12).

As we enter the final quarter of this challenging year, I want to thank you for your consistent prayer and support of your church.  We will continue to stay the course, and still be led by the Lord as to when we will return to our building, now is not the time.  We will continue to be patient and exercise wisdom.  I have been blessed and encouraged by your prayers, financial support and your ability to pivot and make adjustments in your lives and your walk with the Lord.

Please continue to pray for me, my family and for our staff, as the rhythm, pace, and demands of ministry have been strikingly different. Please especially pray for our Media and Graphic Arts staff as they are burning the candle at both ends, yet God has been faithful.

I have spoken with many of you who have seen the faithfulness of God providing strength in areas you have not known before.  Oftentimes, God releases dimensions of His essence on a “need to know basis”. You have seen God move in areas of your life that you never expected because you have never needed to know His power and provision in that area.  Be encouraged.

May the Lord bless and keep you; the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.

Be blessed, stay safe and wear a mask,

Pastor Brian D. Hunter
